Good Pic JJ. But he almost seems asleep! Must have been a hot day. I can just hear him saying Ahhhhhhh..(among some other things)
He was on the last leg of a 20 mile jungle obstacle course in the double canopy jungle of Okinawa. Extremely hot and exhausted Marine,

Maybe you can answer a couple beginner questions I'm having about Lightroom 3.

1) How do I do a horizontal crop of a vertical picture, or vertical crop of a horizontal picture? It seems like the software won't let me do this.

2) When I move a picture from Lightroom into Photoshop, convert it to 8 bit, and save it as a JPEG, it seems to be clipping my highlights. Any idea why, and what I can do about it?

Thanks.

Do you retain the copyright to these shots?

You can crop they way you want. I would have to have the program in front of me to tell you how though. Sadly, it isn't on this computer.

I using don't convert to jpg until after I get it to Photoshop. Never had an issue.

Right, I'm not converting to JPEG until after I get it into PS.

jpgs by nature clip a little bit of the highlights, but you should have results that are not too noticeable. Make sure you are saving at the highest quality and bits.

I do not retain rights to any of my photos taken on the job. They are all governments media assets and hence public domain.

I know that there's a little bit of clipping with JPEG, but it's pretty dramatic. Yes, saving at quality levels from 10 to 12.
