Patti had to track down my mutts for me. The post office has had them since the 4th. I called the post office to ask about them. He said they left a notice on my door. Yeah Right, I've been checking my place every noon and again after work.

I had exactly the same problem with one of my knife shipments. The tracker said notice left but someone was a) home the entire day and b) there was no notice to be found anywhere.
In my case my hypothesis is that it was a substitute mailperson who was either overwhelmed trying to deliver the route or too lazy to look up my address. Or both. Pretty easy to just take it back to the PO and claim we weren't home.
I always watch the tracker now and go get the knife immediately if the tracker says "notice left". USPS is the fourth choice package service at my house.
