I've seen me shoot a bow, not going to take a chance on pissing off a wild boar LOL. If up close is my ambition, I just carry my pistol. I've taken a couple of white tails with it. I've even squirrel hunted with a pistol. Love the challenges there. But I just don't trust myself with a bow, and I don't want to cripple or wound something and have it run off and not find it.

I have been fortunate. All my bow kills have been clean.

I need to start saving up for another hog hunting trip.

Or find someone down in Texas who just wants the things gone. I would be more than happy to put a hurt on some hogs. Even long range.

I've helped track one that was gut shot with a bow, we never did find it. That's when I decided that bow hunting wasn't for me. I've never had a deer go farther than 50 yards when I've shot it. I know they can run farther, helped my dad track several for hundreds of yards, but I'm extremely picky about when I shoot and have let many walk that others would have shot. Just didn't have the shot I wanted on them. And I'm fine with that.

50 yards is the farthest I have had them run shot with a bow. Every one has gone down fast. Either double lung or lung, heart shots.

Rumor is feral hogs are in the south eastern part of the state. But I am not sure they would survive where I am. It gets too cold and very little forage in the snow.

Hogs would cause some serious problems with our ecosystem here.

I wouldn't mind hunting them here again. Used to hunt them when I was younger, just got away from hunting for a few years. Sold all my gear and everything. I've gotten back into it over the past couple years, but still haven't went hog hunting again.

The one time I went I had a blast.

Lots of them around here, even in my front yard from time to time. I'd love some wild hog meat for a pig pickin!
