So, looking through all the posts, and didn't see one that recognizes which members of the yard are in the military, or haved served in it. So here it is guys.
I'll start.
I've been a member of the Canadian Forces for 10 years this summer. My trade in the army is called LCIS tech; Land Communications and Information Systems Technician. Essentially, if it can be used to send and receive comms, I'm usually the one sent out to fix and maintain it; be it satellite, phones, PCs, routers, switches, secure systems (Secret Squirrel stuff!), etc. etc. etc.
I've served three tours, two in Israel/Syria, and one in Afghanistan. I just finished doing the build, maintain, and teardown of all the communications gear that was put in place for supporting the Olympics, and I can honestly say it was more stressful than being on tour! They were supposed to have twenty techs out there, and they sent four! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Guess it's good that it looks like I'm going out the door to Afghanistan again; this time for a full year.
Who's next?

I was in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. Retired in 1994 and started working for Sheriffs office as a dispatcher (along with 3 years as a cop).

C'mon guys, I know of at least 7 members who haven't posted and have/had time in rank, not counting conscription. I know you're out there guys.
