StJ - I bought my first car in 1990 when I was 15. I was driving around in the country and saw it sitting on the side of the road....and had to have it!

She was a black 1982 Mazda RX7 with custom red interior. The owner was an executive at Mead Johnson's and had given the car to his wife for her 50th birthday in 1982. In 1988 he had the interior customized, and a '88 "Turbo II" engine installed. When his wife saw the new body style in '89 she wanted one of those so the '82 with 61k miles (on the chasis and 13k on the turbo engine) eventually found its way to me.

I only kept that car for 11 months, because I felt bad about owning a foreign car (haven't owned one since). However, those 11 months generated a lot of interest from the ladies <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

As a side, I always thought the '86 body style looked like a poor copy of a Porsche.

Very Miami Vice "Spideresque".

As I was overly interested in Miami Vice back then <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> I thought it was very cool that the car looked somewhat like "Crocket's" car....

How did I survive the 80's and 90's <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

It was a neat car....IIRC the redline was near 8000 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> .

My favorite car to date has been a 2005 Mustang GT. In 2004 me and my bestfriend (at the time) decided to buy the first two new bodystyle GT's that arrived in my town. One of the dealers finally recieved four of them in November '04....that night Rick bought a Candy Apple Red GT...shortly thereafter I bought a Black on Black GT.

After adding Diablo performance programming; and other mod's those cars where INSANELY fast.

At 145mph the governor would cut out (SERIOUSLY) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> .

He and I took a curve at between 80 and 100, and I goosed it too much...broke the tires loose and lost control. I slid into a concrete median between the highway shearing off the rear passenger wheel.

I traded the GT for a new 4WD SUV. My wife and I miss that Mustang, but our SUV has been an incredibly good car.

My Mustang....

My first car was also a chevy impala. It wasn't as sporty as Dan's. It was a four door sedan, white in color. It was an automatic and a six-cylinder. I moved up with my second car. A 1969 mustang, dark blue in color, this one was a four speed stick on the floor.
