I took a gamble on what looked like a stripped Yard Keeper on Ebay last Friday. The seller evidently didn't know much about it as the listing said that it might be a Dumpster Mutt but they didn't know.
It arrived today and I got a nice surprise, it's not a stripped Yardkeeper, it's an LE. The blade had a weird discoloration, not rust but I don't know what it was, anyway a quick pass over the buffing wheel and it is shiny as new. It looks to have been used a little but not sharpened. I'm pretty new to the yard and as such kind of ignorant about a lot of things. Can any of you guys give me an idea what this is actually worth?

Thanks,

Walker just brought to my attention that it might be taboo to discuss pricing on the forum. If so, I apologize.

Yard Keeper LEs were released at Blade 2007. You won't find them on the Scrap Yard knives page because they weren't sold through the store. However, a limeted number were sold in a post-Blade Dog Bowl (much like a 'ganza on this site, but don't get too excited, they're an artifact of the old business model). The release price for YKLEs was $129.95 + S&H (as opposed to $79.95 for CGs).

No worries. It's OK to discuss prices when released. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Congrats on a great score!

Thanks for all the input guys. Since it was a "limited release" and has been used lightly, should I use it like I intended to when I thought it was a stripped CG or put it up and keep it nice and shiny?

Ha! I saw that one and realized it was a YK LE. I had a bid on it when you nailed it with buy it now.

The price you paid is about right for the aftermarket.

There is one on BF for a little more but it is mint.

Use it and enjoy it. I have one that I use and love. It feels great in the hand and you know that is one tough little blade that will give you years of good use.

Use it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I use all my knives ....but then again I only own SY knives and they were meant to be beaten. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I have never hunted an animal, but Ill make an exception for Micheal Vick!

It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it.
