The only thing I have found that hurts the coating is Stripper.

And beating on it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Yes from my coated & uncoated scrapyard blades!
Just picked up a lightly used SOD that needs cleaning!

YMMV, but I've used pam cooking spray with good effect.

I spray it on an leave for a few minutes. I then use a towel to wipe the blade off. If it's a coated blade on one of my users, I use 3M scotchbrite pad to speed up the process. It also leaving a thin coat makes cleaning it easier the next time.

Yup......that is why I drink whiskey all the time <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />- knives have sap on them- so i just sit there drinkin and cleaning all my knives <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. Then- after they are all clean- i send the grandkids outside to rub them in sap and dirt. Pay them 5 bucks. knives are clean- kids are happy and I stay drunk <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />.Works for me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I'm serious. Alcohol cuts the sap.
