This is what I found, http://www.theatreontario.org/theatresafety/downloads/v_firearms-blades.pdf

There are no federal laws concerning the lengths of knives allowed. However there are many informal
"blade length rules" in Canada. These vary from 3" to 4" for folding knives in various areas around the
country, depending on what differentiates a pocket-knife from a fighting knife to the police. There are no
federal laws about knife materials, as well there are no formal laws on serrations, or dual edged blades.

So as long as it's not concealed it seems to be up to the RCMP as to what a fighting knife is.

Not completely correct.
Any knife that is intended to be used as a weapon (including for defense) is prohibited.
Remember to always answer this knife is a tool, never for protection.
I live in the West however I have been told in cities like Toronto they frown on knives being carried.
Some cities such as Calgary have by-laws against open carry of knives.
Some types of knives such as push daggers, knives hidden in belt buckles or disguised as other objects such as pens or combs are prohibited.

Hey intel, If you can stay long enought, the 24th is Victoria day in Canada!

that would be nice but the daughter must return to school......plus the extra stay would cut into the knife funds...... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
