...time to clean up the edge on my S5! I guess leaving it dirty for several weeks at a time while living on the central coast of California can indeed lead to rust! Oh well. Time to practice my sharpening skills! Here are some pictures:

A bit closer:

And, just for fun, a side by side spine shot of my S5 and my most recent 5" blade purchase (made of S7 steel, too)!

Now, where did all my sandpaper go...

Heheheheh... perhaps a picture of that 5" and its 6" cousin surrounding the already thick Regulator might help:

Both made of S7! Looks like someone else out there recognizes the beauty of S7 steel!

As the blade was used in comparison with a Bussekin blade, it's safe to report that it's an Ontario Ranger Signature Series knife.

You got it! As can be seen, the S5 has seen some use, and due to its size, will probably see more use than most of the knives I have. It's a no brainer that the S5 is substantially lighter than the Ontario Ranger. Even my Becker BK2 feels light compared to it! Well, at least I know if I ever need to hold down a railroad tie, these knives might work!

Ah! Bruce! You're editing faster than I can quote!

I'll post a side by side picture of them later. They really aren't comparable knives. Just like the BK2 is totally different from the S5, the Sig Series Ranger Afghan is totally different from the S5 and the BK2.

Definitely a sharpened prybar. The only application I see for a knife that short and that thick is military/law enforcement.

Ah ah ah! Don't forget home decor <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> The most I could realistically see myself doing with the Afghan is splitting wood.

You've got a point there, dl. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Without disparaging the Ontario Ranger Signature Series knives in any way, they really point out to me what incredible bargains Scrap Yard SR77 knives are. I simply cannot imagine anything a Signature Series Afghan could accomplish that a Dumpster Mutt CG could not.

Enough discussion of other makers/manufactures. Chop off's are fine, pics and discussion...NOT Permitted. Please review the rules if further clarity is needed
