True that, Tom. But he could make it even more affordable with an outstanding blade of through-tempered SR77. That's how I feel. Also, there doesn't seem to be a need for the edge retention of SR101 on a blade this big. Maybe my opinion isn't as strong as some, since I don't really even want one of these short sword things, but SR77 would keep it in the more affordable spectrum for members of the Yard.

The bottom line is this:
  1. Dan designed it 2. Dan stands behind it.
He would not make this beast in anything less than the steel he feels will meet our needs and handle what we consider regular "use".
Every time we have gotten worried about a steel selection we find out there was no reason to worry in the first place.
Beyond a doubt, this one will perform as well as every other blade Dan has come out with!

Making it one-handed and using SR-77 could help cut the cost. Plus, it would put the weight forward for better chopping.

Either one is fine with me, but my gut says... SR101. I am thinking the same as Jeff ..........but Bruce has a great point and Chris pointed out that whatever it is will be awesome !! OK-I have now officially talked myself into needing one.

I think SR77.

I hope to get one, either way, cost depending.
I have no doubt it will be fairly priced.

I was just banned from bringing anymore blades into the house for a while too...
I ended up with a new firearm and 2 blades total in the last 30 days... my roommate said enough... and I want one so bad!
