Went for a hike with the GF in Palos Verdes, looking for some geological features. Did some fair prying and spine whacking on some rocks, and some chopping and tip-prying on some driftwood. The scrapper worked great, and shows no sign of damage to the steel whatsoever. The coating took a beating however. In terms of ergonomics the balance is a little too neutral for really excellent chopping but it's a good compromise of size and utility.

Andy - although our machine is capable of 56k, we normally only run at 24kps. I have noticed that when GF and I are posting at the same time, he gets 4 or 5 posts listed to my 1. Be glad for what you have!

Posting at the same time? Are you sharing the connection over two computers at once or something? Or do you mean that she is posting from another computer/connection? If you live in the sticks, your problem is probably the same as mine. Poor phone company connections. We tried complaining, but as long as voice is working, that's all they care about.

At first, I thought something was wrong with my computer or modem. But, at the time I had a laptop, and then I tried connecting to my ISP from town, and got 56k. So then I knew it was my phone wiring.

I wish I could get satellite internet, but it's really expensive.

Andy - you are exactly correct about the phone lines in the "sticks". It is the same excuse our IPS gave us. And yes, the satellite service is expensive, and with all the stormy weather to the south of us we would be without it quite often.

Blondie; nice pics, thanks for sharing them with us.

Nice avatar too, I am swiss, got a SIG 550 at home, my father still own's a K31. My time in the army ends this year, so I will pay about 75$ to own my SIG 550 (it will be converted in a semiautomatic)...a K31 costs about 100$ in the arsenal...

Must be nice!!! , the original built in switzerland sig 550's are well over $10,000 here!

On the other hand, that's about how much I paid for each of my three k31s.

My family is Swiss, Zinggs from Bern.

Grizzly - sounds like you have a couple of nice weapons there! Is it still true that the government issues an automatic rifle to every household ? And is every male citizen required to serve in the Army ? Tom

Private Klink;

so it is, but times are changing. Politics are reducing our troups and so they talk about if it's necessary to take home the rifles with the ammo...Swiss army is not was it was a few years before, since the Soviets are no problem anymore, our army was reduced from about 700'000 to 80'000 soldiers...it seems, that Switzerland learned nothing from history..
