Hey guys,

As some of you may remember, I run a five kilometer run every year to raise funds to build a new church in Jersey City, NJ. The Coptic Orthodox (or just plain Christian for those unfamiliar) congregation is largely poor immigrants from Egypt who are currently praying in a beat up office building with a makeshift alter. The front and rear walls of the alter sanctuary are bare plywood, while the left and right walls are merely .5m plastic. The ventilation and exits are severely insufficient for the size of the congregation. There are no pews, only the cheap stacking chairs. The linoleum tiles are coming up, the dropped ceiling is rotting and coming down, and the roof leaks.

i believe my number changes with the number of registrants and what i, and others, earn for the fund.

i'm 64 now, and i think i was 82 when i joined.

When I was a kid,we held our services in a barn & back screen room at a parishioner's house until we got enough donations to build a curch.

i don't have a personal goal. the first year i just sold a knife and the proceeds went to the fund. that knife was featured on noss4's site.

If you click on the "Name" header, registrants are ordered by their last name, making "Michael Ghattas" much easier to find.
