Maybe it is because I have used 6 and 7 inch blades for so long, but I like them. The first time I ever saw a knife chop down a tree it was a US Navy Ka-Bar in the hands of 12 year old kid. It was a fairly large pine tree, too. A 7" blade can chop, and it is more compact and easier to handle than a 9" or 10" knife.
Hmmm... I guess I'm saying that it isn't ideal for either chopping or small tasks, but if I just had one knife for field use, it would be a 7" blade. On the civilian side, I'd just bring a big ol' chopper and a 5" fixed blade.

I just think a 7" recurve would be fine. Lets face it, Dice, you and I have so many damned choices, it is hard to pick just one. I am taking a Condor jungle bowie and a DM on my next trip far into the swamp. If I had to pick just one knife, it would be a 6" or 7" knife. I used to carry Ka-Bar until I got a Kukri.

OK, you're right. I still say that to maximize your 7" blade's potential you need to bury it in someone's chest. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> My RD7 is a fairly lousy chopper, but great field knife.

The one with a bottle opener might not fit in a standard tactical sheath. I am tired of ordering knives without sheaths. I hope they have sheaths available when they are offered. I have the Swamp Rat Mini Mojo and it FITS the nylon sheath just fine. I'm not sure I will like the MM with a Res-C handle personally. It balances really well with the micarta handles and the Res-C knives seem to have a more forward balance.

I've got a dozen real nice fixed blades - 4 choppers, 4 midsize, and 4 EDC - and I can barely make choices. I don't know how Ted even functions!

I'd say to just throw on a blind fold and grab one, but Ted would probably lose a hand if he tried that...

Well I kept telling myself I was going to hold off on the next Scrap Yard knife but I really want a Mojo with no bottle opener... I just can't help myself.
