My boss, and I saved a small possum today. Someone had set a snare/noose type trap for the possum. The trap worked, and whoever set it threw the possum into one of our dumpsters. My boss spotted it, and said get it out of the dumpster now. Upon removing the possum we noticed that it had a length of string dragging from it. Further inspection revealed that the string was super tight around the possum's neck. We grabbed the possum, and after a couple minutes I was able to cut the string from the possum's neck. The possum was in REAL bad shape when we found it. Probably would'nt have lasted the day, and or ended up in the hopper of one of our garbage trucks. It recovered well after removing the string, and ran off to a hiding spot by a building. I know that it is just a silly possum, but it felt good to save his little [censored]. I guess I did a good deed. I wish I could say that I used a SY blade, but all I had was an old CS folder on me at the time.

Thanks Scotty,it sucks to see any animal suffer. Except some 2 legged ones. Semper Fi.

He wouldn't have suffered if I'd have found him either.

I have more of a softspot for animals than people. Good job, even if it was "just" a possum.

Do what ya have to do. Shame that the trap setter could not finish the job of ridding the possum. Good that he did not have to suffer.

From the sound of it, maybe the trap setter thought it was already dead, and just disposed of what he though was a corpse. Was it still moving around when you found it?

The possum I guess was in shock. It was'nt moving to fast, and did not really put up a fight when we caught it. It was plenty alive though. Some ----head threw it into the dumpster to get rid of it. I hope it ran off to a nicer part of town.
