Who would win in a chop-off? (I know we have not seen what the Scrapizashi can do yet, but based on steel and design, who would be the winner?)

Chop off? I'd say the Waki, unless you were chopping bricks. Then it would be the S7 Scizzy.

The only one I have is the AK.

How do you like your AK?

I was looking at getting one but didn't know if it was worth it seeing that I already have a Waki and I want a Scrapizashi.

I like it. While there are limits to its utility, I think it's great. Actually, wakizashi style blades were originally designed to be carried everywhere at all times. So, although in todays society it's not really accepted to carry a large blade everywhere, they are not impossible to keep on you all the time. But, I guess Samuri did not have to get in and out of trucks.

Of my big knives, AK,KZ,Gladius and the NMFBM (sold), I prefer the NMFBM for actually use. The AK is a close second. Then the KZ and then the Gladius.

But between the three you mentioned...

Besides the handles and based simply on steel, I think there's a place for all three. The Scizzy in S7 has crazy tough steel for impacts, the SR-101 has the best edge holding ability and Infi a compromise of both with better stain resistence. I'm over simplifying here, but that's my simple logic. If you were to only have one, regardless of price, the AK makes the most sense. For chopping trees, Waki, for demolition...Scizzy. Because there is definite overlap in their capabilities, it is necessary to go to extremes to see the difference in performance.

I would love to see all three in action. I might have to get one of each to find out for myself. Thanks Kuanomar!

If anyone has both an AK and a Waki, I would love to see a chop-off or get you to weigh in.

Interesting question. I have a Waki so right now I say that one. Material being cut is a major factor too.

Depends who's holding it.

Assuming equal skill, the AK has the advantage due to it's slightly longer reach.

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />Well, looks like it's down to the AK <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> & Scrapizashi <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
