We all know that Res-C is great, but what about the other kinds? There are so many different handle materials out there for knives these days. I am wanting to know what the yard thinks is the best and why.

Next time I might suggest that you add a "No Opinion" option to each question. If you had, that's how I would have voted for all three questions.
For example, in Question 1, I don't think it makes a heck of a lot of difference which one you select. All solid handle materials are going to have pretty much the same characteristics when it comes to shock absorption. If anything, handle shape may be more important than handle material.
In Question 2, I assume Micarta or G10 would tend to outlast wood. But I have absolutely no idea which one them (Micarta or G10) would outlast the other.
In Question 3, I think comfort depends largely on the circumstances you're likely to find yourself in. A handle that's comfortable in a dry environment might be uncomfortable in a wet one. The same holds true for cold temperatures versus hot temperatures.
Just some food for thought. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for the suggest <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. More than anything, I just wanted to hear people's opinions and you did that wonderfully <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I am not as familiar with Micarta or G-10 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />. I have always owned wood, rubber or leather handles.

I would think that G-10 would outlast Micarta, particularly paper, the scales on my Hibben Dragon Claw for example, the pattern started to blur and shift after I started carrying it IWB, although they haven't swelled or anything, there was a definite effect from me sweating next to it all day, whereas the G10 on my EDC pocketknife only shows wear and tear from being dropped, a couple nicks here and there. Plastic is entirely sweatproof, whereas the Micarta probably isnt.

I think they're all comparable, although Micarta (if left "fuzzy) has a little more give to it and so can be both more comfortable as well as absorb a very small amount of shock. One of the reasons that I really like birch handles is that they also tend to have a fuzzy texture and are excellent thermal insulators. I think that wood has the upper-end capacity to be more attractive than either G10 or Micarta, although I've seen some very interesting Micartas made with burlap and yarn. G10 seems to be pretty tough, so I'd choose it as most wear resistant/longevity winner, but Micarta is also good.

I voted Micarta all the way for myself, that and Res-C are my favorite handle materials. I like Canvas and Linen Micarta the best, I've worked with both in making handles and found the superior in many ways for me. G-10 makes great folder handles, but I prefer Micarta for fixed blades. Micarta is lighter than G-10 too.

(fine in a small blade) for looks wood is amazing but I tend to "baby" it. for grip and feel I like Micarta. but outside the poll, Res-C is my all-time favorite <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well, I like micarta the best for use as it gives bit better grip. G10 looks good and feels ok on a smaller blade. Wood is the most beautiful but in most cases fragile for hard work. Saying that, of the Bussekin that I have most are Res-C, micarta, then wood (1 when it gets back from Norcal).
