It's a spike/yearling deer skull.Could be a whitetail or muley up there in the Albt.B.C. area.
I found one(whitetail) before it was fully decayed & the antler spike was barely sticking through the scalp.
It was next to a trail I used to get into an area I hunted in N.C. when I was stationed there. It took the bugs a couple months to clean it off.
It looks like a devil skull eh?
He died befor his antlers dropped for the first time.

Horn dog skull eh... little smaller then what I was expecting <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

There are certainly more deer in that area, I saw three that day. Devilish? yes, Demonic? I am thinking so. I had a really strange dream last night where I was being chased down by a pack of rabid antelope.

There are pronghorn in the area not many and I have never seen them that far west(though that is not saying much) so it could very well be a young male, though something demonic was also what first popped in my head lol.

Here is another pic.

That is obviously a horn dog skull. They're very dangerous.

Great answer!

I don't think its a deer. I have cut up and off alot of deer heads. My thoughts are that whatever that was had horns not antlers. Looks like a goat to me.

+1 on the goat, doesn't really look like a deer skull.

I looked it up in my Peterson's guide, looks like a White Sheep or possibly Pronghorn according to their skull guide. They both live in NW Canada.

I think what HD said holds a lot of promise too! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The one I found was a whitetail deer.It was dead only a short while when I first ran into it in sept.during bow season on Camp Lejuene,N.C.
The hide & tail were still on the carcass.
Finally in november it was clean enough that I wasn't grossed out about taking it home & boiling & bleaching it.It was still on a nail on a tree in my back yard when I left for a year in Japan.
There are no goats or sheep native to eastern N.C.that I know of.
The "horns" are the pedical where the antlers attach to the skull. They are small because it's a yearling.

I found one of those deer skulls in North Georgia back in the 70s. I convinced my young nephew that it was a horn dog skull. We were camping in the National Forest up there some where. We had those kids scared to get out of the tent. Especially when we described the packs of horn dogs that could ravage a whole camp in seconds. The legend of the Horn Dog was born. I mean, it was the '70s and we were not all that lucid much of the time anyway. I actually thought it was a goat skull. Yeah, it could happen. Goats can go wild.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
