In a survival situation I don’t think that any caliber comes close to the versatility of a .22LR. In the movie, it looks like the pistol being fired is a .38 special. I just weighed a 158g .38 special on my triple-beam scale and it weighed 15.3 grams. For the same weight, you can carry 5 CCI .22LR HP 36g. cartridges.
No matter where you go.....There you are.

I do believe a surpressed pistol and rifle in .22lr would be one of the best SHTF rifles--especially in something that is compact.

I really enjoyed it, mostly because it was realistic. I even bought it on Blu Ray

I need to search feedback on these pistols (based on atchkinson design)...but they look like fun since they take the 26-rd mags Put a little 4moa red dot on it and go to town! Hell, even scope it would be fun for hunting squirrels (not sure of accuracy though). http://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/pistols/plr-22/

Ish, I know they use the Blackdog magazines which are plentiful. What would be really nice is to SBR it, have a stock for more applicable reasons, and suppressed. Then to top it off have a good pistol that accepts the same suppressor.

I think my next purchase is to get another Ruger 22/45 and drop a Tac-Sol upper on it for the ultimate lightweight pistol. I've got my eye on the new RP model, so I can throw some Busse grips on it

Book of Eli and Mad Max films kind of romanticize "end of the world" scenarios, The Road does not. Truly depressing movie. Even when there is potential for a couple feel good moments they are not because the whole situation is insane.
and don't get me started on Charlize Theron
