I have a sister living near Dallas - Richardson actually. My Mom used to live about 90 miles s/e of her.

First and only time my middle brother ever came ice fishing with me it was -38 with the windchill, -24 without.

If I had to pick a place in Texas to live it would be in northwest Texas, but in the hill country. Just for the terrain and to get away from the gulf coast humididy. Nice terrain. Still just hills, though.

Went ice fishing at Mammoth lakes in California when I was a kid. Really not that cold.
