The "Civil War" was really about States' Rights to govern themselves without a lot of Federal interferance. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> True, most believe the other "truth" thanks to our text books and our media. When people hear the word secede, they laugh.

1867 was when Canada became a confederation.
After the British conquered Quebec in 1608, they proclaimed the British North America Act, they gave Quebec special considerations because they believed that thousands of Americans would move north and the french would become a weak minority.
Maybe someone should have told them to look at a map, leave Virginia or Florida to live in Quebec, ya right
