you may have heard of the gay student at rutgers who committed suicide. i had a friend who committed suicide at rutgers, but he was heterosexual, so no one cares. This is something that gets me to no end. There has been misery and bad things happening forever. Now that the populace in America want to have the shock value we are seeing it and it is "news". If we look back we will see there were a lot of people who were tougher than any of us, they persevered and people knew ot to mess around. Makes no sense to me. Mag, you are correct. Why is it a hate crime only if you are gay or a minority------are they all not hate crimes? Yes, the are all HATE CRIMES, but THAT won't sell papers or get you to watch THEIR news program. Makes me wanna <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />

got into a big argument with someone at the gym over it. i lift at rutgers with an alumni pass (only $205 for a year!) and the kid was offended that i didn't care.

I do feel bad that the kids family has to deal with his loss and actions, but he did choose to commit the action. The kid was embarrassed. Who wouldn't be? It is still tragic. Young folks that age are so concerned with what others think of them. He may have found a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
