Todd, if you're going to get a clay gun, go for the gusto and get an O/U. Man they handle nice. Randy, I'm a traditionalist most of the time. I have a set of LC Smith SxS shotguns that I normally use for skeet and such, but I shot a Franchi 20 gauge a while back and broke 23/25 with it.

I would probably gravitate to 4 guns if it all went down. Colt AR15 a3 flattop, my Moss 500c (20ga) the Smith stainless mod 60 .357 and my sig P225. Cause I have all those.
1. .223 probably be easier to find around here than some others. 2. 20ga mossy, cause I have one that is short and easy to handle and carry. 3. the .357 cause it's a serious caliber and can shoot 38s as well. 4. the 9mm cause that is also a popular caliber and easier to find than some others.

Never shot a BP gun, been around folks shooting them some, but never done it myself. Both my brothers and one brother in law all got into them about 20 years ago. We all hunted with them for a while, but the only one that is really into them is my one brother that doesn't collect rifles. He has the same hawken I have and last year he bought one of those new in-line bp rifles. The other brother had a kentucky long rifle style bp rifle, man that thing was a b**^% to shoot. All the recoil was directed up towards your face

If it came to a SHTF scenario right now, I'd be happy with what's in my safe. If I had to grab a couple and run, it'd be my Glock 19, Ruger 10/22, Remington 700 and possibly my Remington 870.
But I'm on the end of a dead end road, and I've got a couple thousand acres of gamelands behind me, and a spring at the foot of the hill. I think I'd stay put.

Yeah a .22 would make a LOT of sense. I had forgot about that.

Dad has an old Hawken .45, it's a great shooting gun. Again, I'm a traditionalist. I don't like scopes on BP guns, nor do I care for the in-line guns, but they do make it easier to shoot BP, and therefore more people are hunting with BP.

The biggest regret I have in regards to selling a firearm. I traded an nice LC Smith sxs 12 gauge for an original octagon barrel model 94 32 special. Lead ban came into effect and being stupid I traded it, hands down the best shooting shotgun I ever had. It just hit what I wanted it to. Although I traded the rifle for the model 94 rifle because my dad really wanted one (an original not a repo)and gave it to him one fathers day.

It's like crossbows. North Carolina made it legal to use them this year. Now EVERYONE is jumping on the crossbow wagon. But people who have never used a bow don't have realistic expectations, they think it's like shooting a gun. Been a lot of wounded deer this year, or so the game warden told me last night.

I have 3 LC Smiths, my favorite is a 22 inch skeet x skeet 20 gauge. It was custom made for a salesman, and somehow my grandpa ended up with it. He gave it to my dad for graduating high school, and my dad gave it to me. I'll never part with that one.
