Welcome to the Yard. I don't believe we know when that will be, but I can only hope it will be when I have enough money to buy a 12 pack of them. I have picked up a couple of HRLM's from the Swamp to feed my meium sized fixed blade habbit.

Now there is a knife I would get several of. I love my Swamp Rat HRLM. That is a pratical size EDC. And no, it does not need to be all that thick. It would be nice in D2, if there is any left in the scrap yard.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Hello, Dingo 91, Welcome to the Yard. We are all in the same waiting boat on this one. Only Dan at Scrapyard knows the new offering release dates and he usually lets us know what it will be a few weeks or "two weeks" before they go on sale. Good Luck.

How does the sr-77 compare to what the swamp knives use (sr-101?)
And welcome to the yard Dingo. You've found a very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable group here.

Yes it is a wise choice to stick around and join in on the posting. Or if lurking is more your thing feel free to do that. Its funny cause we had a guy here that wanted a S6 for awhile and would keep checking in and stop and would miss out. He got so mad he had his account deleted. Its funny cause a few days after his account was deleted the S6 was announced to go back on sale. Big loss for him. So just keep checking in and u will score one. Thursday night 2 new knives go on sale so if u want one make sure to be here.

I am not qualified to answer that except to say that both SR77 and SR101 are extremely tough steels that will outperform most knife steels. Maybe Bruce or Magnum will give you a very detailed comparison if they are around.

What's this business about the 2 new knives? I must have missed a thread or something.

And welcome to the yard Dingo. You've found a very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable group here. SR77 has better shock ( impact ) resistance but loses out to SR101 on edge holding. I also believe that SR101 is slightly more resistant to corrosion. Both, however , are good hard working carbon steels and with the heat treatment that the Busse family gives them you will not go wrong with either !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Ontario Rat knives offers their Rat 3 in both 1095 and D2. The 1095 version is for people who want their knife to be as tough as possible and if that means they have to sharpen it more often that's fine. The D2 version is for people who like a harder edge for things like carving hardwood and edge retention even if it means a little less toughness. Sr77 is like 1095 but better while Sr101 is more like D2 in that it is a nice hard steel that keeps a good edge. Swamprat and Scrapyard also make it so the negative trade offs are minimized. To get maximium toughness out of the SR101 Swamprat differentially tempers it. To get the best possible hardness and edge retention out of S7 Scrapyard uses a proprietary 40+ hour heat treat.
