I do like the size of that knife, and if its as reasonable as the DM was I might have to get a few.

Hey guys Im sure this has been talked about before but why woul'd you need a bigger choil??? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I do agree with Gravelface, I have a Gen-1 & I prefer them over the Gen-2's also!

I like the Gen 1 Chiol, but that is as far as choils go. Personally I would rather have the extra bit of blade without the choil to hang up on something I am cutting.......but again....that is just my preference.

I have cut myself more using the choil than any other time. That bit of edge usually catches my fat finger so I tend to avoid them.

IMO the choil just adds another dimension to the versatility of the blade. That grip change alters all the mechanics(or maybe the ergonomics) of using the blade.

On a small blade I prefer a small choil, just big enough to give a little extra room for a ceramic or steel. Taking 3/4" out of a 4" (or less) blade seems somewhat wasteful. You probably could get more precision for whittling and carving by having no choil at all and having the blade extend very close to the handle.
On a big blade, a full size choil is a wonderful thing as it makes the big blade much easier to use for small work, at least for me.
And if there's got to be a full size finger choil I'd prefer the shallow choil to a deep choil.

Choil.. make it Big.. or keep it Small!
just don't go in Between!! <- that is simply a waste; can't put finger in AND you lose blade edge length!
