YUP, unfortunately the "Bad ones" tend to jade our thoughts toward all of the kids, and that's not right, but MAN are there a lot of stinkers out there now.

On a side note, I have had the Navy and Air Force recruiters come to the wrestling room to meet the jr and sr kids. In fact the basketball team has sent their kids too. The recruiters always ask the wrestlers to stay around. After the bb team leaves the real pitch for special services like SEALs and Para Rescue start in. The Army recruiter for our area is a former graduate and wrestler from our school. The Marines have a built in recruiter at the school due to the NJROTC program which is Navy affiliated--we have a retired Naval Commander and a 1st Sgt from the Marines. Needless to say we have a lot of recruiting going on but vwry few of the kids join. Of the 3 sr I have right now one has already joined the Army and another is waiting to see what happens. The last sr is being recruited hard by the Army, a prep school to wrestle and a military career. So not all this generation is bad.

Jeff, I can't believe you travel AS FAR as you do with a High School team. We never traveled much when I played football, maybe 50-60 miles. Next week I'm covering a high school team from Australia playing our local high school basketball team.

I have been to Deleware, PA, DC, Ohio, NV, CA, TX, NM, LA, KS, MO, IL, WI, MI, ND, SD, NE, IN, CO, IA, with wrestling either as a wrestler or coaching. A lot of times we make the trip an educational one too............got to justify it some how LOL.

I know that the vast majority of the "good kids" that I see come from sports teams. They learn some rules, self-respect, self-motivation, etc. I like talking to the kids on the sidelines. It's most always yes sir and no sir. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> We do "reminders" if ya or nah is used instead of yes or no. The way I see it they have to learn sooner or later so why not now.

Man, to me that is unbelievable. Our WHOLE SCHOOL this year doesn't even have 500 kids! And that's K-12!

Our high school here that I graduated from was at one time the biggest in the state. Enrollment was about 2400. They opened a new high school a couple years ago and split this one up, now it's around 1300 students.
