Jeff, I can't believe you travel AS FAR as you do with a High School team.
We never traveled much when I played football, maybe 50-60 miles. Next week I'm covering a high school team from Australia playing our local high school basketball team.
That will be interesting. My parents hosted a Japanese HWT one time. The Japanes national team was traveling through the US wrestling the states best. Well the guy I was coaching with at the time was born in Japan, half Japanes, and wanted to wrestle the Japanese team with our squad. Now this was international style and we did just fine. It was funny to see the Japanes kids get a home cooked meal since the guy I was coaching with mother cooked them "real" food. The japanese team had eat so much American food that they were sick of it LOL.

Knockout Sports is a group of New Zealanders that make sports apperal. Several years back they came to the US to market their line for soccer and US rugby. Well somewhere along the lines they met the coach I was just talking about and they made us a set of singlets. I swear that the father/son owners were the biggest guys I ever saw for rugby players. Both were still active players for the NZ military team at the time. When we would have a dinner done by them there was all kind of down under beer and wine.................good times until the next day.

The coach I mentioned is now a college coach, and started the 8th girls team in college wrestling. I would not be surprised to see him coaching the womens Olympic team in the near future.

Our school was one of the more unique schools I ever walked through.
[Linked Image from profile.ak.fbcdn.net]

Shaped like a spaceship, no interior walls between classrooms, etc. It was LOUD in there, hard to concentrate while you were in class. They've put up some walls now, put carpet on the floors. It's not as bad now.

Todd, you mentioned App State. I had a wrestler several years ago head that way. He loved it there and would have finished up there if he had not got married and became a father in short order. I also have a kid now that wants to go there. I asked him why as he is a inner city kid and he said he wanted to see what the country looked like. I think he is warrenting a fishing trip this spring--it amazes me that so many inner city kids don't really know the outdoors.

Todd, were there no walls while it was finished or was that for some dumb reason done on purpose?

No walls in between the rooms? I bet that was hard to deal with. I would go nuts listening to others classes.

You are right about unique design. When were you there?

App State is in a beautiful part of the country. I talk frequently about fishing in the summertime, I spend a great deal of time not 5 miles from the App State campus. It's a good school, not too widely known as a party school. Lots of teachers here graduated from there.

Randy I asked kinda the same as I figured this hs was done in the late 80's early 90's when group learning phase was the major thing. I have an aunt that taught at a school similar but ended up being a traditional elementry after they figured out too much co-op learning is not a good thing.
