Just be thankful that it is quite when you are on.

Just be thankful that it is quite when you are on. Most of the time. If it gets busy, of course, I focus on the job. That's why I may go an hour or two sometimes without posting during the night. But I try to at least pop in and see what's up unless it's super busy.

Our firewall keeps me from checking on the yard even during my lunch Ours used to be stricter than it is now. Don't know why it got changed, but I'm not complaining <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> About all I can't access now is streaming videos, ie youtube

BUT I'm pretty particular about what I look at too. No nudie pics, for example, and nothing really bloody or violent.

But during that 1% of the time you couldn't pay me enough, for what I did.

When the 911 lines ring, you never know what will be on the other end. I've heard people get shot at, people dying from being beaten, all kinds of domestic fights and arguements, etc. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. When the call comes in, I WANT to be on the line getting those people the help they need. Me and my partner are good at what we do, and we take pride in what we do, knowing that 99% of the people out there wouldnt stand a chance sitting in my seat.

There is a special personality in people that work in emergency services. Part of it is the desire for that call not to come in , BUT if it does they want to handle it. There is a certain satisfaction in knowing you made a difference.

I used to work with EMS and fire dept as a first responder/EMT. I love helping people, and it certainly is a calling. Been doing it off and on since I was 18 years old.
