Nothing wrong with bic lighters, but I would just be afraid of them leaking down as I had some do when I still smoked. I don't smoke, but we keep lighters around the house for candles, camping, grilling out, etc. I've noticed that sometimes they do leak down, so I've usually got 8-10 around in different places. I love the longneck lighters, like you use lighting a fireplace or something like that.

Maybe I need to get me one for my BOB. Especially since I can't make fire worth a darn anyway, I'd hate to try with a firesteel and knifeblade.

We've got a couple of the long ones, they are pretty nice for setting stuff on fire unless I'm practicing my firesteel thing.

I guess I am a lucky person as I can get a fire started pretty easy. Saying that, I had a lot of practice as a kid when spring burning of fallen leaves came about and again in the fall.

Using a firesteel is a lot of fun Todd. If I could do it standing up, I may agree with you. However, my back is so messed up that I can't work on making fire for that long. I haven't done the flint and steel since I was in the Boy Scouts.
