I have a speed bump and it is a nice knife! Quite fast, sounds neat and looks great. The Speed Bump is sexier than the HEAT. I considered it. It is a beautiful knife. I think the Heat might be a more practical blade design, though. I may get one of those or a Blur later. Thanks for the information. Is yours the aluminum handle or the synthetic one?

I like the clip point on the HEAT a lot. I have both black and plain blades, serrated and not. The one I play with the most is the plain edge satin blade. Easy to clean up with after cutting up meat, etc. AUS-8 is prety good; I have no problems with it. And, as you pointed out, it open like magic. I am glad you picke up the HEAT. You won't regret it.

When in doubt, order both. OK, I've got two Heats coming at $26 each, and one Speed Bump at $56 (the akulon handled one). That should cover it. I know, I could have had another Benchmade or a Spyderco for that cost, but more knives is better, right?

Where did you get your Heats from, Vic? I'm also considering a Heat. I tend to prefer fixed blades so I'm light on folders. I have a Kershaw Leek (that I love and actually carry on occasion), a Browning Ice Storm (Mcusta OEM), a S&W ExtremeOps Auto (just for fun . . . I can't take it outside of the house without breaking the law! ), and my very first knife . . . a Buck 110 beater. So maybe a Heat would be a good folder to add to the mix . . . particularly before they're gone for good. By the way, I heard on Nahvs Lahv (that's Smoky Mountain speak for Knives Live! ), that some party or parties may be interested in purchasing the Camillus trademark. Then I found this: Camillus Cutlery in talks to sell brand namesSo the Camillus name may not disappear altogether. Yeah, but new management of an old brand is not always a pretty thing. Do you think the value of popular camillus knives will increase now? Perhaps I should invest.

well Horndog, my only AO folders are from Kershaw.....I have a Bump, zdp189 Leek, and rainbow Chive..... fun to play with but I actually prefer manual for EDC folders (don't want a premature vasectomy from my Leek when carried IWB) .... but I recently read a review on the Needs Work over on Bladeforums.... I personally don't care much for the styling though.... the Needswork has a wharnecliffe blade ....here's a link.. http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=KS1820

I got the last two HEATs from a seller on ebay. Same for the Bump, some small dealer on ebay. I just did a search and several popped up.

I just was looking for the right things at the right time, I guess. I figured since I was getting the Heats at half price and they were no longer being made, I'd get two.

Horn Dog, That was my thinking, as well. Plus, I just plain like them. I was playing with one all night, while watching stargate. Cannot get over how quick and smooth they are. Plus, added a desert camo lanyard, so they will match my scrappers.
