some spydies are quite handsome. now that i'm a little more conscious, the geometry of the heat is pretty good. it may have a thinner edge than the navigator but i haven't cut anything with it yet.

I've been avoiding Spydercos for a long time. I know they're well made knives. But they just look strange to me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> i felt the same way, but i've got a few that i wouldn't dream of parting with. they really are well made users, even if they do look funny at first.

I've been avoiding Spydercos for a long time. I know they're well made knives. But they just look strange to me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> i felt the same way, but i've got a few that i wouldn't dream of parting with. they really are well made users, even if they do look funny at first. Now that I've had a week to play with them, my EDC favorite is the Kershaw Speed Bump. It is easy to deploy and has a safety (which I only use when I am concealing the knife and not using the pocket clip). The strange shaped blade seems to work fine for opening letters and packages and cutting line. I really like this knife a lot. The HEAT is good, too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

i dunno what it is but i'm not crazy about it. i love the design. a simple, classic clip point bowie with a high grind and a guard. nice grip checkering pattern though not very effective. liner lock is nicer than many. i still haven't cut anything wish it but judging by the grinds and shaving, it's sharper than the navigator2.
i just don't know why i'm not in love with it. i think it's the zytel turning me off.
off topic, i think i'm gettin that singlecut. it's got the word 'cut' in it, so it's kinda related.

I have about 5 Spydies now.

the spyderco ethos falls in line with that of scrap yard. form follows function.
the looks were strange to me for about the first five minutes i saw em. wasn't hard to get used to. many of their knives don't look too freakish, either. calypso, military, manix, dragonfly, and many of the newer designs are quite clean and elegant.
