should I try for some spiderwire or just mono line? I figure probably nothing less than 10 pound test? Mono would be fine, 8-10 lb test would be fine, I'd think.

Sounds familiar. My neighbor's kids attacked me when I was laying in the hammock in the backyard after my run. I got mad at first because I was exhausted, but then I attacked back and we ended up in a water gun fight. Well they had water guns and I was unarmed until I realized the water house is like the artillery of water guns. Needless to say I won and they retreated.
