Several years ago I used to read about a custom knife maker out of Bristol Tennessee that booked Hog hunts with a knife. Harsey I think is his name.

I've been close to a wild hog a couple times, and there is no way on God's green earth I'd voluntarily take on one with just a knife!

I don't even want one to get within pistol range!

I have thought about doing a knife hunt. Then my hunting ethics kick in. I always go for a fast humane kill. A hog being held down by a dog and taking a blade to the heart isn't worth it just for the thrill of it.

The last hog I took was running at me from about 10 feet away. I think we scared the crap out of each other.

I've loaded bombs, rockets and missiles on airplanes, I've washed and waxed Nuclear weapons but I DO NOT want to hunt hogs with just a knife. Explosives are MUCH safer!

Long distance is the next best thing to being there!

Personally I think that that Hungarian semi auto 50bmg would make a nice hog gun. And If for some reason you missed on the first shot you still had 4 more to catch him on the fly. To think you can standing offhand fire a 50bmg, rapid fire and not get shook up more that a 12 or 10 gauge is awsome!

I like to walk the brush and flush them out. I did the long distance thing a few times. Flush them out is almost like dove hunting, of course the hogs are bigger, on the ground and you are using a 45/70. Whatever you say MB (hey Todd, I think he's about half nuts, but don't tell him I said so). I wouldn't want to "Surprise" a hog. He may decide to run OVER me not away FROM me.

Actually, IF I ever got a chance to go hog hunting like that, I probably would take it. Always wanted to hunt a hog, but figured I would be using a short barreled semi-auto 12guage. (with slugs)!

The easy way to do it is find a dry creekbed. Get one guy on each side. One guy walks 5 to 10 feet ahead of the one on the opposite side. They always flush to the opposite side and your partner gets a running shot away from you. Then switch. We took 6 hogs one morning doing that. We must have seen 30 before we figured out the way to predict/force the direction of the run. Then it was just fun.
