Got those GSI SS waterbottles and the 18oz cups in today. Sorta disappointed but it's my fault. I didn't realize that they had plastic around the outside top for screw threads. There goes using them in a fire to boil water. But the Cups will work for that.

I am also disappointed in the 511 Push pack. The "expandable water bottle carrier pouch" doesn't work that well either. The pouches have a tapered bottom, not flat. The Bottles will fit in there, but also intrude into the bag a lot and keep sliding up some in the pouch. oh Well It will do. But I sure wish I had spent the extra bucks and got the maxped jumbo s type or the EDC.

I was tempted to go AWOL by staying in bed.

Haha, it would be sorta hard to call in sick.

Oh and there is no gasket or seal to keep the lid from leaking! Guess I just got spoiled by my Kleen kanteen.

Do they leak? Seems like the plastic threads and plastic lid would seal well.

They might seal. I was cleaning them out with VERY hot water and the water on the outside might have been what was dripping off, at least I hope so.

I ordered some Space Saver Cups last night.

These are the 18oz ones with the folding wire handles that the 32oz bottle sets down in.

I think you would be fine boiling water in the bottle if you were in a bind. I have boiled water in the cheap throw away bottles water comes in. They deformed a bit, but didn't fully melt.
