Errr, yes one of the few wars us Brits (ok English for this one) have lost over the years, however I think 'we' did get Wallace eventually! I've got family north of the border though so I'm kind of in the middle of that old one!

It is low level cursing, it means someone who is uncooperative, mischievous, grumpy or a pain in the rear. Sod is similar to git. It's only slightly rude.
