Hey where in South Africa did you get a Penga? I managed a couple of spears, but I have never encountered any blades worth mention.
I have not been to South Africa, but the label on my Cold Steel Panga said it was made in South Africa.

Horn dog, one of the best of the Martindale's is the golok model. It was Brit army issue for many years before the bean counters ditched it for cheap crap. It you get one it'll impress you!

I have seen pics of them, but never tried one. Martindales are getting hard to find lately. Must be a market demand for better beheading knives or something.

I like my British Special Forces Golok. I am going to find a Martindale, though.
Definitely a Hacker and not a sticker!

They are great diggers too! The wide flat tip 'edge' protects the cutting edge when making little holes.. Just add a SS4 for a winning team. Watch the canvas sheath though, a sharp golok will chew it's way out pretty quickly..

I put my Sheffield Golok in an old early RTAK sheath. It may be as good as a Martindale. I have a Martindale bolo, but I bent it badly. Still sharp, though.
My golok handle has this inscription: "FE & JR Hopkinson, Sheffield, England." It is the best chopper I own. It is a beast of a knife.

That Sheffield golok of yours has the advantage over the Martindale with it's handle design. It has a lot more blade curve too, great for a chopper (as you know from your test!) the Martindale would only beat it as a digging tool..
