I like Micarta, but I think that ResC is going to be here to stay in the Yard - and at the prices that Dan is going with, thats fine with me! I would like to see some Micarta on the LE models maybe - but thats it.

Res-C works. I agree with the other posters that micarta is hard to justify from a price/performance viewpoint. I would like to see a different color than black once in awhile but that's just a wish. Black handles won't stop me from buying whatever the next SYKCO knife is.

With Micarta, a full tang blade is possible instead of just "stick" tang?

Kinda funny…today at the Swamp there’s a post about people wanting Res-C on Rats, and here is a thread about wanting Micarta on Dogs. Guess it’s one of those “the grass is always greener on the other side” type things.

I love S7. I love looking at SR-77 and imagining how it will perform (snagged a Dogfather for a penpal and it sits in its sheath waiting for its daddy to get back in the saddle). For reason, though, I blister easily when using Res-C and only slightly when using micarta.

Any chance of a Scrapyard knife having micarta scales?

I drive ScrapYard on the premise of having the best "performance to price ratio".

Even if I found the material in the dumpster it is only a small potion of the cost. Micarta adds substantial cost to the price of the knife due to the increased amount of hand work/labor to fit it. This pushes the performance to price ratio higher than I am willing accept.

So I won't say never to your question but it is highly unlikely

Dan

It's possible but is it really needed?

I would agree that with some knives it may be needed.

I don't think it's really a concern with SYKs.

In exchange for "Doggy Dollars" (Redeemable for Scrapyard Knives and Merchandise). I would be willing to volunteer to help with the hand finishing... Actually, for store credit I would be willing to sweep, pack, ship, fetch drinks, hold off the legions of fans.......

In another thread we were comparing SwampRat Res-C vs Micarta prices..
and found the price difference to be +$40 to $90 for Micarta.

Oh my. Forget I asked. Also, the res-C will keep the knives more tip-heavy, so my bad.

No Bad here...all questions are welcomed

Thanks for asking

Dan

My hands like the Res-C handels more, I looked at a swamprat M6 at blade was and it was no comfort at all. I love the looks that you can get with micarta example the ratwiler I honestly think it is one of the most beautiful knifes the lines are amazing but it is not comfortavle in MY hand so I sadly pass I know you can mold it to your hand via sanding but I will most likely stick to Res-C for price and comfort, but this is just me.

I was disappointed when Busse stopped the Basic line. Then I rejoyced when Swamp rat came along, then again they too stopped their Resiprene. I hope the same thing doesn't happen with Scrap Yard. This stuff makes for a fricken awesome handle material and I won't settle for Kraton.

Air is cheaper than Resiprene-C.

Bring on the Skeletons, PBF's and a full tang sword blade (handle not included).

Arf arf arf... That's my other dog impression.
