As some of you may remember, I recently got a new JYD from Kershaw. Mine is just so stiff, there is no way I will ever trust it for EDC. I have worked it and worked it. I have graphited the action. It's just never going to reliably open with one hand. I have read the instructions and practiced for hours. I have at least average ability in these things. This one is just not right, I guess. I'll give it to some one I don't like at Christmas. So I went on a quest for a fast AO EDC. I got a Camillus Heat, and a Kershaw Speed Bump. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Flix001.jpg) These knives are fast! The Heat is really fast, but it takes quite a bit of pressure on the flipper to deploy. Good thing, too, as it has no safety. Nice little knife. But I already knew the Heat would work. I have handled them before. The Kershaw is the big surprise. At first, I could not get it to deploy. Then I found the safety on the right side of the handle. This thing is smooth as glass and requires about half the effort to open as the Heat does. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Flix002.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Flix005.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Flix004.jpg) Mission Accomplished! Two new fast EDCs!

I have graphited the action. It's just never going to reliably open with one hand. I've had some about which I felt the same way... until I discovered Militec-1. Perhaps your JYD really is a POS, but you might want to try using Militec-1 before you give up on it...especially considering that their website gives away free samples large enough to last for many years.

Yes, Magnum, it has a "weird" profile. I think the long straight part from the belly to the point will work for precision slicing. The recurve behind the belly should work for cutting line. I'll just have to use it a while to know. It is a wicked-looking blade, though. Should be an effective sticker or intimidator, as the case may be. At least we know the Heat is good for slicing pepperoni. This knife should work on that, too. I like it. It is fun to flick!

I love F A S T knives Vic.
Why the faster the better for me. Like the one I have that gave me a blister from rubbing into my index finger so hard when deployed! That's kickin!
Peace.
