Another vote for the Heat! For US $35 shipped to my door it is a really sweet little knife. I am admittedly biased in liking Darrell Ralph designs.
Don't own any new Kershaw AOs so I don't have an opinion one way or another there. Lots of folks seem to like them, including viking helmeted knife enthusiasts <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I have the Speed Bump too and I love it! For the size of the blade it opens really fast! Hold an edge well too. I gave my brother one for christmas last year and he loves it. I think it started to get him hooked in nicer knives as well. Next up is an Infi chunk for him... There is no hope for him!!!Hehe

The Heat is cool, too. It is really fast, isn't it? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Sorry for the delay Vic! I am off today and was exploring.... Found some stuff to.
Great knives!! I am glad that you got what you wanted and needed. It stinks that when you anticipate and wait on something, that when it finally does show up it turns out to be nothing like you thought such as the jyd.

Nice blade HD. If they work better for you, then that's what counts.

Nice blade HD. If they work better for you, then that's what counts. Thanks Jeeps. I like the blade shape and handles of the JYD II better, but I think it has a serious design flaw. The flipper will take the blade to about half-way open, and even that part is quite slow and hard. From that point you must either grab the blade with the other hand and pull it open, try to sling it open (which sometimes works), or hope your thumb can get enough traction to push it open. I think it is an unsafe design. A torsion bar assist like the Speed Bump or Blur would solve the problem. Or it could just be equipped with a thumb stud or thumb hole in the blade. Both the HEAT and the Speed Bump work perfectly. Cold Steels and Buck one-handers work, too without assist. Gerbers work, too. Kershaw did not do their homework on this one, IMO. Since you cannot physically push the blade open with a flipper but half way, it should have a spring assist.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I have been dying to try a Kershaw! Looks sweet.... I have been carrying a Busse Skeleton key in my front pocket lately. ![[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]](http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s105/ohiomitch/Picture089.jpg)

Hey HD, it looks like you've got a couple more keepers. The speed Bump looks nice. What blade steel did they use on those?

Hey HD, it looks like you've got a couple more keepers. The speed Bump looks nice. What blade steel did they use on those? Thanks, ksjumpmd. The Kershaw is Sandvik 13C26, whatever that is. It is very sharp. The Camillus is AUS-8. Both these knives work well. I am just hoping that Kershaw will make an assisted opening version of the JYD II some day. I really like that knife, except for its hard opening.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I have been dying to try a Kershaw! Looks sweet.... I have been carrying a Busse Skeleton key in my front pocket lately. I like the Speed Bump. It is quite fast and easy to open. Trade you a Junk Yard Dog II for the Busse! Just leave it open and its almost the same. Nice Skeleton key. I have not yet got into the really small fixed blades, but never say never.
