If it was short it could have been a 91/59, M44, or M38. It is rare to find a rifle with a bad bore since the Soviets rebuilt the rifles so much. In some cases the Soviets would counter bore the brl but that actually can help the grouping. Not seeing the rifle it would be hard to say what the deal is. When you say not accurate, are we talking pie plate accurate, man size accurate, or 20 oz coke bottle accurate? What distance were you shooting?
Well like we were shooting at a Skid sized piece of plywood roughly and barely hitting it at maybe 50 yards. And I would go out on the limb and say I am a pretty solid shot I am not however familiar with many military style guns so it could be me in that perspective.

OK now we're talking, I shoot 223 across the course meaning I start at 200 then move back to 300 and finally prone at 600 yards.
Yah see thats what I wanna get into! Money is needed though haha.
It helps, but if I can do stuff on my teaching salary you can too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
My parents think I am nuts when I drain most of my paycheck into knvies/gear but I figure once college starts and stuff I am going to be severly limited in my spending abilities.
Don't work at the gunshows and a gun shop like I did. Funds will be greatly reduced and ramen noodles will be a mainstay diet LOL.

My 223 is an Armalite AR15 setup for service rifle match shooting.
Very nice. Is this the heavy brl with free float hg system that looks like a regular A2 hg?

Heavy bl brl with match front and rear sights and a match trigger. I am in need of a new barrel but the darn thing is still a tack driver at 200 yds using reduced targets for 600 yds.
No need to replace a brl until it won't shoot. Thing is that after you change it out, it will be more accurate than a lot of new brls out there. Might make a good brl for someone who wants a cheap pig/truck gun.

Finland took many of the Nagants and made excellent shooters out of them. The winter war proved that.
Yes they did. And they also trained their soldiers in the use of the rifle before sending them to the front. A lot of the Soviet soldiers had never live fired a rifle until they got to the front.

Something wrong there. Maybe a bad crown on the rifle, bad rifling or worn out from improper cleaning, action loose in the stock. Remember the sights are 100 meters at the lowest setting but you should have been busting the pallets apart.

The action/barrel was pretty wiggly in the stock. I believe my buddy tightened it up some but we are both newbies to serious guns ect. I have seen the Mosin shoot a mile shot on youtube so I know it can be a great gun. We were probably to close to our target some as well?

If the action is loose that will play hell on the accuracy. There is two bolts that hold the action in the stock.....on right behind the bolt and the one in the magazine. Might check that the next time you are out.

Man I just done posting in Archs GSR thread and did a quick search. I has been think a 7.62x39 bolt rifle is a good option. Just saw the one that takes AK mags on GB. So many many rifles and so few funds...
