I started to get worried about my order today so I asked Patti for my tracking number. Tracking number just showed the shipping information was received from SYKCO but nothing else. I was hoping that meant the knives were in transit and indeed they landed at my doorstep today. A pleasant surprise was the SS4 I managed to scoop from Tony G arrived at the same time. It was indeed a Scrapyard kinda knife day

Without further adieu, fresh from the USPS shipping box I bring you....

Tada! The Hook still in the wrapper is Dice's. The Guard fits nicely in the Yard sheath and the Hook definitely does ride on the sheath edge. Things are hectic at my house because we're moving so I probably won't get to chop anything this weekend but stay tuned. Both the Guard and the Hook feel like they will make great choppers..slightly weight forward feel, comfy Res-C handles. Can't wait, can't wait.

Congrats, Kraz. Nice score. Mine have not shipped yet, but hopefully they will soon. I think I am really going to like the Yard Guard. That thing looks like it could out chop any 7" knife I have. And I have many in that size. Wish I had a Camp Tramp to put up against it.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Alright! Thanks again my man - I can't wait to get that Hook in my paws!! They sure are good lookin'! Hopefully my RD6 sheath will accomodate that Hook. Anyone have an RD sheath that has tried it out??

Thanks guys!

FYI, in a side-by-side comparison of the Swamp Rat Mini Mojo and the Yard Hook, the Hook is noticeably thicker. The Mini Mojo was spec'ed at .25" blade thickness and the Hook at .28" and it's really obvious when you hold them side by side.

The Hook has a more weight forward chopper feel to it while the Mojo has a more balanced, neutral feel in the hand.

Also the blade lengths of the two knives are different because of the handle differences. On the Mojo the micarta comes forward a good distance over the ricasso where on the Hook/Guard the handle stops short of the ricasso.

The cool part is that while the blades may look the same the knives feel very different.

So maybe the mini-mojo is a better fighter and the hook a better utility/fighter?

That's my impression H-D. The Mojo feels a little more nimble in the hand.

Congrats! *I* have a Camp Tramp…but I don’t have a guard/hook. That’s why I didn’t get one. Because I already had a CT.
