I figure for every 250 rounds I need per gun in competition I need to shoot at least three times that to stay competative.

If you're shooting competition, you gotta shoot! I'm lucky, I'm pretty good at shooting and can shoot pretty well, even with little to no practice. But I'm not fooling myself either, I'd love to shoot better. Just don't have the time or the money to shoot as much as I'd like to.

I shot an 87 last year in qualifying without picking up my pistol for 3 months before. Didn't go out of the 4 ring till I got to the 25 yd line...but it still wasn't THAT great either. Throw out the 25 yard stuff I was over 95.
