gawd, one day we're gonna have LE Hooks and Guards!!! I asked Dan and he said no LE on the hook. If he had said yes, I would have waited for the LE, instead I bought coated hooks.
Arf arf arf... That's my other dog impression.

Congrats on finally getting your Mutts CO. I was worried about how long it was taking but did not want to say anything. I would not worry about getting rid of a couple as I put 3 up for sale on the CGN exchange for a reasonable markup.(about half way between Ebay and retail but with one of Erics sheaths )and they all sold within 24 hours.

I thought the Mutt would make a good heavey EDC but I was wrong. It really is more of a really good small survival knife. I saw Bear Grylls in the Rockys the other night and he really could have used a knife like the Mutt that was capable of prying ,Digging and batoning.

I agree my DM has become my number one travel blade. I must admit that I wasn't sold on the mutt at first. However, it's quite an adept blade.

My DM is starting to edge out my Bandicoot for a field trip blade because it's more stout. Now I just need to get my DM as sharp as my Coot.

Yes! I thought that bringing some old threads back would breathe some life in to this place!
And this is a GREAT thread!

Yeah, I had a blast with this one.
Plus I hope it makes some new members realise just WHAT Dan's blades can handle.

They can use them for easy things like chopping without a worry! Worse case, they make a great truck defence weapon!

You know what would be an awesome mod for one of those DM's, a full height grind like the YKLE but with convex edge. That would make an awesome user with a much more useful and sharp edge then the DM. It would have to be stripped obviously. I stripped my SS4 which is an incredible knife and has also benefited from a much finer convex edge.
INFI and S7 are really tough and can handle a finer edge than the stock SYKC one.

I did nt like the Mutt because I found the edge much to obtuse but now I am regretting not keeping one. It would be a lot like a unpolished YKLE.
You would ned a belt sander like mine or HornDogs though,
INFI and S7 look much better stripped anyway and at the very least you should thin the coating close to the edge because it really screws up the cut at full thickness right to the edge.

Thanks again for picking up the extra Mutts Cold One!
Even though I did not need them it is really nice knowing you had my back.

I like the way you really use your knives Chris. I have always admired the Dog Father trip and igloo building thread. One of my all time favorite threads ever!
Thanks for the reminder of the power of Scrap Yard knives.

They are almost ridiculous. They are like chain saw hatchet axes that are carried on a belt and never fail to win in every assault.

Cool stuff my friend.

Peace.
