Now some member of PETA will probably look at my post and try and claim in their stupidity that I was abusing animals. Hey, I am a FIRM believer in PETA. I think that everyone should be able to say that they also believe in People Eating Tasty Animals!

It's been really dry here lately, but since hunting season came in we've gotten rain a couple times. Nothing as much as what we're getting today though. There are flood watches out for the mountains here.

Yeah before it rained last week for two days, we had had a long dry spell. We also needed the rain.

I like the 12's for the same reason, get plenty of time off. Last week, just took two days off and had seven in a row. The down side is that it's 12 hour shifts. Long nights, as you well know.

I'm getting sent to the grocery store here in a few minutes too, my wife is off today and if I want some homemade chicken noodle soup for supper then I gotta go get the stuff for it. Did I mention she's a great cook?

Oh yeah. When I first started the part timers worked 2 8 hour days during the week and 2 12 hours shifts on Saturday and Sunday. 12 hours is a LONG time, specially when you are the only one there.

Yeah you did say that. Have you tried that dressing with the rice and stovetop yet?

I expect us to go to 8-hour shifts when we consolidate. They're talking about putting Sheriffs Office, EMS and Fire, and the local police dept all together to save money. Each one has 2 on shift all times, and if they consolidate they figure we can do it with 4 on duty. I dread it, but it's several years coming, just in the forumulative stages right now

We have started cooking a lot using chicken broth instead of using water. Man does that make a tasty difference.
