... Sitting in a tree stand and shooting with a scoped rifle at deer just didn't appeal to me as much as chasing something through the swamps that might end up chasing me! ... I got to get back into shape so I can go back after them this Fall in the Altamaha swamp. Hog hunting is big fun. I'll be carrying the Yard Guard when I go, too.

Vic, now I fully understand your Signature... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Ya nothing like that adreneline rush of trying to hunt something that can ruin your day.
I personally don't hunt bear any more as I don't like eating them (no problem with them that do) but I still hunt even with a bow, never could stand hunt. While moose hunting on more then one occasion I've come uncomfortably close to a grizzly. About 10 years ago had one walk into our camp like he owned the place. Wish I had my camera handy that day. I think it was Col. Townsend Whelan or Jack O'Connor that said "A mountain with a grizzly on it is much more exciting then one without"

Now hog hunting that has got to be great, you've got a nasty ill tempered animal that is equiped by nature to be able to ruin your day, and if you succeed you got something that makes fantastic eating.

I hear you, I've got a winchester model 94 timber chambered in 450 marlin. I think that would make a most excellent hog round.

No doubt it would coyote. Shot placement is key. Some folks use a .22 Magnum. After my experiences, I like at least a .44 Magnum. If I had known where to place my shot on a really big one with my 30-30, his head would be on my wall. I should have shot him in the head to neck area instead of behind the shoulder. Live and learn.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
