good for you doing the scout thing Doc, and I also congratulate your son AND you as well. I made Life scout, then other things took over and we also lost a lot of our male leaders. Oh well I survived and I guess that's the main thing. I also learned A LOT in the time I was in the scouts and I especially enjoyed the one trip I was able to make it to Philmont. I could live out there forever.

I have been to Philmont twice, as an adult. I wasn't hiking, went out to the Training center. I will be back. I want my son to go do the trek before he gets out. It was one of the two things I didn't get to do while I was in. And I would love to retire out there in that area. I love it out there.
Scouting is great, but it takes leaders, and parental support.Get involved if you can.
