I guess some hunting and fishing spots have been good for a LONG time!

I don't know where they are. He probably does, but he wouldn't want that. Same thing for his rattle snake rattles. I bet he's got 100 of them in a box in the basement. I'd love to make a shadowbox out of them, or the arrowheads either one.

i agree. A burial site is one thing but like you said a village or even a hunting camp is diff.

that is what frosted me with the state. in my job i run across the state (or university) folks, and they have such a superior attitude and disdain for the amateurs.. i had a conversation with them once and told them that some of these amateurs knew more than them, and if they would work with them instead of against them they would have many more sites to study. it fell on deaf ears...

I've been stalling on a shadow box, however I tend to keep my latest finds on my desk among my Bussekin blades.

Dad and my grandpa were old mountain men. Ginseng digging, trout fishing, deer hunting and trapping were what they knew. I wish I had been around about 10 years earlier where I could have done that with them. But by the time I was old enough, my grandpa wasn't able to go anymore, and dad didn't want to go without him.

you almost dont blame them. I have looked but never found one myself. My buddy found a hand axe that the plow broke in half after the till. I have some nice ones and I am trying to get the hang of flint knapping. It sure is harder than it looks.

there are some folks down here than can knapp with the best of them... they give free classes to scouts and teach them the lore that goes with it..

couple guys that worked for me (same one i mentioned earlier) are pretty good at it too... you gotta have strong hands

need a pic of the desk top. it sounds like it is a mini man cave all to itself i miss having my office in this house. I used to be able to have my hobbies out and just lock the door. It stinks to have to dig out and then put away your toys every time you want to look at them. It was like last night when rth told me the rmd and s5 are roughly the same size. I had to dig out the knife box, sort through it and then after looking put it all away again. what a pia.
