Yep, even a foot long dow rod or broom stick can be very dangerous. Shoulder, elbow, knee, or you can do the "triangle of death" strangle hold. That ones good for wild dogs if they attack someone too. Any handy rake or shovel or broom can be used.

A pencil is a great weapon.

Yeah, I dunno why they take away most weapons from criminals, but let them have pencils and heavy locks. They put the lock in a sock and make a mace out of it. Instead of pencils, I dunno why they don’t make them use bendy pens (like they sell in Shomer-Tec) or make them use crayons. Ya can’t shank someone with a crayon. And airlines…they took away my Sliver Gripper tweezers, but let me keep my sharp pens. WTF!? They don’t know $h!t about improvised weaponry.

Wow, scary stuff.
Very good points here.

Someone with the will & determination can use just about any object to hurt someone.

Reminds me of that Vin Diesel movie where he says "i'm gonna kill you with this spoon" ..or was it a coffee mug?

It was a coffee mug. Then, when he disarmed BG #1 with it (who was better armed) and he didn’t upgrade his weapon to the disgarded weapon from BG #1, BG #2 saw that he was quite confidant to continue fighting with his coffee cup, and he quickly fled.

You can kill with a rolled up newspaper if you roll it up and fold it in half.
The fold is as hard as oak.

You can also tightly roll up a magazine and wrap it with rubber bands. Tightly rolled it’s like wood like you say. It can then be used to jab into sensitive areas. Most people wouldn’t think twice of you carrying a magazine in even the most secure of areas…

I got jumped in a 7/11 store by a couple goons and found that whipping a can of chunky beef stew at the most agressive guys face point blank stopped them cold.

That reminded me of this story I read:

A friend and former roommate told me about his aunt who worked a local convenience store in Arkansas. Although she liked the job and she loved talking to the customers, she always had a fear of what might happen if someone tried to rob her. She decided that she would keep several cans of soup at the counter so she could throw them at any would-be robbers.

Then one fateful day she noticed an unfamiliar customer wandering the store acting strangely. When all the other customers had left the store, the man slowly made his way to the counter. With adrenaline coursing though her viens and her mind racing, she struggled to appear calm as she nonchalantly rested her hand on one of the cans of soup.

As the man placed a packet of gum on the counter, she slowly tightened her grip on the can. And that's when he reached in his pants, whipped out his little pistol. Or, well, it was his manhood: the flasher laid it on the counter. Before he could crack a smile, before he could utter even a single word, in a flash she raised the soup can up and slammed it down on his member.

He was still passed out when the police arrived.

That is WAY better than my story Andy! I still have a soft spot for that soup now.
I saw a guy get beat down with a sony sports walkman but it did not survive.

Just about anything hefty can be used. I once read a self-defense article where the author was praising the ordinary rock as a thrown weapon. He mentioned having seen 8-year-old girl softball players bring a full-grown man to his knees with a stray softball. He said imagine the impact from an adult throwing one. He recommended hanging a large rug from a clothesline to use as a target to practice on. He suggested a few good-sized ones could be carried on the person. With practice they can be quite effective. They’re also immune to metal detectors.

Talking about putting the noddle back in chicken noodle soup.
