LR, yeah we are ok, but the houses just across the street from us did get water in them, at least some of them.

LR, yeah we are ok, but the houses just across the street from us did get water in them, at least some of them. wow that is lucky for you! has it started to go yet?

Here it is. Hey, my MAN purse got a sort of work out today. Patty decided she thought she felt well enough to go to MINGO to day! So off we went. We got within about a mile of it and the road was STILL closed!
Any way, I have my first aid "kit", fire kit, leatherman, 8x21 monocular, a couple knives, an aa led flashlight with 3 levels plus strobe and a small clipon for a ball cap etc etc.. and two 1 lit water bottles along with a 12 inch pizza we cut up into slices for lunch, oh and a piece of chicken for the pooch.
Only carried it for about a quarter mile but I was surprised how comfortable it was loaded down like that. AND the water bottles didn't have any tendency to try and slip out at all. I think it's gonna work! Oh and I forgot my diamond rod hone.

The floods from the Mississippi (it's about 30 miles east of us) didn't really have any affect on us, it's just all the water collecting and running off from the fields. Two blocks from our house there is a drainage ditch that has a 3 ft culvert under the road and it was running at full capacity. Our area was flooding. They brought in 3 tractors with irrigation pumps and started pumping from one side of the road, across the top to the other side bypassing the culvert. Three tractors combined, and JUST the three tractors were pumping 1.8 million gallons of water per day and they ran for either 10 or 12 days 24/7!
The water has left our area and the ditch is deeper and wider than it was. We were lucky. If it wasn't for the Tractors they brought in we might have had water under our house as well. One good thing, our house is a MINIMUM of 2 ft above ground level as the lowest place and about 3 1/2 at the highest.
