This one, the owner found it and called it in, but she doesnt' have a key so we have to go retrieve it and tow it in.

The penalties for car theft seem so minimal considering all the money and time spent screwing around with retrieving them.

This was actually a case of a family member taking the vehicle. Wonder what the chances are of the owner prosecuting now that we have the vehicle back?

The owner is the aunt of the person in question. I'm thinking she don't prosecute, but you never know. She did tell me she was mainly concerned with getting her vehicle back.

Wouldn't matter if it was only worth $100.00, Punks need to be penalized for crime, not just a gentle slap on the wrist when they promise to never do anything wrong again.

problem is criminal record isn't much of a deterrent until they clean up, and then its too late.
Jail just makes better/more knowledgeable criminals
