Greensboro is about in the middle of the state, but there is no dividing line until you hit the mountains where I live

I live right at the foot of the mountains, such as they are. Highest elevation is only about 6000 ft

There´s that mt Mitchell. Quite high mountains. What kind of climate do you have there?

Mountains are quite pleasant, fair temperatures in the summer, low humidity. But the winters there are harsh. Where I live it's about 10-15 degrees warmer than the mountains on a daily basis, but we have little to no snow normally and fairly mild winters.

Does the sea effect there or is it too far away. How long is the distance from the mountains to the sea? North Carolina is quite south compared to Finland. Mild winter isn´t necesserily a bad thing and you can enjoy the snow in the mountains.

I guess I got something wrong because I thought that SF was going for the JYD status this weekend but when I checked the user list there was still under 1000 posts. I said that I would help him but I was in the camp...

We're about 250 miles or so from the coast, so the ocean doesn't really affect us except to send us the humidity. The moisture gets trapped against the eastern face of the mountains and makes our summers sweltering hot.

I haven't been on much over the weekend, but I didn't see a JYD run going on or I would have joined in.
